Handmade VIntageTurkish Runner, Intricate Colorful Design, Minor Distress, 4x10

This handmade vintage oriental runner has an intricate tribal and floral design that revolves around a delicate central medallion flower. The rug was handmade in the 1980s with a full and soft pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. It is notably soft and thick and cushy underfoot.

The central medallion is an ivory flower at the heart of the rug, its jewel tone petals of sapphire, watermelon pink, ballet slipper pink, azure blue and khaki, which match the ivory corners. These colors are the main accent colors of the rug's intricate trellis-like details and geometric shapes, adding countless additional colors to the mix for infinite details: turquoise, burgundy, taupe, periwinkle, and midnight blue, just to name a few. All of these details rest on a rich watermelon red and pink colored backdrop, with natural variations in the dyes, known as abrash, that is a common occurrence in handmade rugs that use natural dyes.

These variations create a wonderful one-of-a-kind effect. The ribbons of border add yet another layer of intricacy and beauty with their charming small pink flowers on ribbons of taupe framing a midnight blue row of larger geometric flowers in all of the colors of the runner. This rug has one corner with an imperfection - light blue paint spatter that miraculously blends in so well it's hard to see unless you are up close. See last photo for close up.
